Stuttering

Stuttering, also called stammering, is a speech disorder in which speech is disrupted involuntary repetitions of sounds, words, alphabet or paragraph as well as random silent pauses in which the person who stutters does not produce sounds.
Most people produce brief disfluencies from time to time. For example, some letter is repeated and others are introduced by "um" or "uh." Disfluencies is not a problem, But they can disrupt communication when a people produce too many sounds. The specific activities that a person finds challenging to perform vary across individuals. Some people communication problem only happen during performing particular activities, like talking with another person on the telephone or talking in large groups.
Stuttering affects about 5 percent of children aged 2 to 5. If you start stammering in adulthood, you should take it seriously and go for the consult with the doctor.

CAUSES OF STAMMERING

CURE OF STAMMERING

This situation is perhaps not so surprising when it is considered that there is still no complete answer to that question. But we can use these following. It works in many cases of stammering
The Brahmi oil is a very useful cure.
Almond, Black Pepper paste and add sugar, use this past early morning on an empty stomach at least one month.
Take a fresh green amla and eat as chewing it slowly, it helps to cure your stammering problem.
Cinnamomum Tamala (Tejpat). Use this under the tongue for stammer treatment.
Take some bloated borax and mixed it into honey, gently rub this paste on the tongue. Help this treatment for the stammer.
The Ghee also helps to improve brain and memory power.

EXERCISE FOR STAMMERING

Exercises are effective in the treatment of physiological causes of stammering. In general, exercises are meant to provide strength to the organs associated with speech including tongue, lips, jaw, trachea, and lungs. There are many exercises found are very helpful for reducing the stammering intensity in some cases, completely curing the stammering problem.

Exercise 01:-

 Loudly and clearly pronounce the vowels A, E, I, O and U. Be overly articulate and distort your face strongly, every time you utter the vowels.


Exercise 02:-

Open your jaws as wide as you can without exerting hard. While the jaws are still open, lift your tongue upwards to touch the roof of mouth with the tip of your tongue. While still attached to the roof of your mouth, drag the tip of your tongue towards the back of your mouth. When your tongues get stretched to the maximum (without hurting), hold there for few seconds. And then pull out your tongue outside the mouth and stretched it toward the ground to touch the chin. Hold in that position for few minutes. Repeat these steps 4-5 times daily.

Exercise 03:-

 Deep breathing exercise is very effective in curing speech disorders like stammering as they help to strengthen the respiratory organs and to relax neuromuscular tension that builds up in the body.
Stammering can be cured by learning to randomly control the rhythm of the letter by implementing of specific breathing patterns. There some variants can be used for deep breathing exercises and one can choose any exercises which person is comfortable to do. Some of the variants are:

a) deeply breathe in through the mouth and breathe out slowly, immediately after breath in.
b) breathe in deeply through the mouth and push your tongue outside the mouth while exhaling.
c) Inhale deeply through the mouth, at the same time, press your chest muscles inward. Exhale slowly.

Exercise 04:-

Reading novel and book exercises are supportive in the identification of patterns of repetition of words that cause stammering and thus reduce bottlenecks of fast reading. For this exercise, take a text and read it fast without laying emphasis on the quality of speech.

Exercise 05:-

Singing is a very effective exercise for stammering. Singing helps to learn to better control breath and the phonatory muscles. Another very powerful treatment for stammering involves participating in drama or theatre. Theatre helps shed down several inhibitions and is a very effective remedy for stammering.


STAMMERING IN ADULTHOOD

If you start stammering in adulthood, you should take it seriously and always consult your doctor. There are many different cases of stammering start in adult life can be categories into the following five categories.

5. Re-occurrence of a childhood stammer
